NO HELP FROM HARRISBURG

The legislature offically adjourned overnight without passing any kind of financial relief to SEPTA or other transit agencies in the Commonwealth. This means that barring a last minute miracle by Gov. Edward G. Rendell (D-Pa./Comcast SportsNet), it appears that major fare hikes and service cuts will be implemented within the next couple of months. There have been many rumors flowing around as to how severe the fare hikes and/or service cuts will be.

Already, the guestbook has been rife with rumors, including the elimination of routes that SEPTA has tried to eliminate before, such as the 19 and 121. Of course, nothing is final until December 2, when the SEPTA Board will hold a special meeting at 9:00am at 1234 Market. But, we shall see what happens and will try to keep you posted as to any rumors that may be out there...
