TASKER-MORRIS MACED...

Literally moments after an off-duty officer was robbed at Wayne Jct, police had another situation to deal with on the Broad Street Line in South Philadelphia. Police responded to a bank robbery call at the Prudential Bank branch at Broad and Morris shortly after 12 noon today. KYW reports that the suspect claimed to have a pipe bomb at the time of the robbery. The suspect left with an undertermined amount of cash, along with a dye pack tossed in by a bank employee. The suspect then fled into the Tasker-Morris subway station as the dye pack, which contained pepper spray, exploded, allowing the suspect to flee into the subway. Philadelphia Police then shut down the Broad Street Line to search for the suspect. Several Philadelphia Police officers and a few commuters were treated for exposure to the pepper spray; two officers were taken to the hospital, while the remaining victims were treated and released.

More details on both of these stories should become available later today...
